Plant your Lotus Responsibly
Lotus will grow to fit whatever container they are placed in. If you plant it in a pond without the confines of a pot it will soon take over the entire pond! To remove the lotus cut the foliage below water level. This will cause most of the plant to become flooded and drown. Be sure to remove the cut foliage from the water to avoid a chemical imbalance in the water when the debris decays. Any new growth can be spot-treated with an herbicide. Be sure to follow directions for application. If you are unsure about which herbicide to use call your local county extension agent.
