Mrs. Ramsay Rules the Roost
A towering lotus crowned with a magnificent blush-white flower, Mrs. Ramsay rises high above the pond on an exceptionally tall stem. Her softly pink-edged petals open with elegant authority around a glowing golden center, creating the impression of a queen surveying her kingdom. Graceful but commanding, delicate in color yet impressive in stature, Mrs. Ramsay does not merely bloom—she rules the roost.
Mrs. Ramsay Rules the Roost is a wonderfully distinctive lotus whose name perfectly captures its commanding personality. This is a very tall, elegant lotus, lifting its flower high above the surrounding foliage on an exceptionally long, sturdy green stem. It has the unmistakable presence of a flower that has claimed the highest position in the garden—and intends to keep it.
The bloom itself is beautifully pale and luminous, with petals ranging from soft white to delicate blush pink. The pink becomes more pronounced along the petal margins and tips, giving the flower a subtle rosy outline. The petals are broad and gracefully pointed, opening upward and outward to create a poised, almost crown-like form.
At the center is a warm golden-yellow seedpod, partially enclosed by the inner petals. Its bright color provides a lovely focal point against the cool, pale petals and gives the flower a gentle warmth.
The bloom rises well above the broad lotus leaves, making it appear almost like a queen surveying her domain. The photograph captures that quality beautifully: everything else seems to sit below her, while Mrs. Ramsay stands proudly above it all.
And then there is the name—Mrs. Ramsay Rules the Roost. The lotus is named for a formidable lady who knows exactly where she belongs: at the top, in charge, and quite unapologetically so.
