Zhaojun Look Back Shadow

Zhaojun Gu Ying

Nelumbo nucifera

A lotus named after a love story...

An Imperial concubine in Han Dynasty, Zhaojun, was one of the four most famous beauties in the history of ancient China. The legend says she gave her life in exchange for her Emperor's life when his wife became jealous. This lovely lotus is a tribute to her beauty. It is listed as an exquisite of bowl lotus allowing it to be grown in a very small bowl but it does well in a larger pot or pond.
